Shooting and Social Distancing

Our club has re-opened for shooting after the easing of lockdown restrictions. However, for the time being we will only be opening on Saturdays. There are two shooting sessions - one at 10am for a 10:30 start - which will run for an hour. The second session will run from 11:30 until 12:30. Limited numbers can participate - around 8 archers per session - to ensure adequate social distancing.

Bank Holiday Monday - Chairman's Special Shoot!

Our Chairman has been busy concocting something fun to challenge us with this Bank Holiday. He has kept the details secret but all we know is that there will be a mix of target and 3D shooting at 3 distances.  Hopefully see you there at 3pm!

Since it is a Bank Hol, the sports centre will be locked up and unavailable so please enter through Beaver Ave.

Changes to End of Month shoot

Since the weather forecast is set to be somewhat grim tomorrow and nobody wants soggy cake we have decided to postpone tomorrow's end of month shoot til next weekend, the 5th of August where hopefully we'll get some more of that sunshine we've become so accustomed to!

Easter Weekend

To celebrate the nights getting shorter and the start of the summer season, we are using the easter weekend for some fun shooting...

Good Friday (30th March) 12 - 2pm  Clout shoot - there will be short distance and longer distance targets for people to try

Easter Saturday (31st March) 12 - 2 pm Field shooting, Martin is setting us some challenges with 3D and 2D targets - really we are hunting Easter Eggs!

Easter Sunday (1st April) No Shooting (Really - no fooling!)

Cancellation of Shooting this Weekend

Looking out at the current weather and considering the likely field conditions and state of the access road we have taken the unusual decision to cancel shooting this weekend (normally we make such decisions on the day)

So no shooting either Saturday 3rd March or Sun 4th March. Indoor shooting on the 2nd March is also cancelled.

Stay safe, keep warm and remember - there is a reason why Archery did not feature in the winter olympics!

Beighton Gala this weekend

picture of a festival marqueeThis Saturday 8th of July Aardwolf Archers will be hosting our regular "Have-a-Go" stall at Beighton Gala.  This means that the club won't be open for regular shooting but there will still be plenty of fun to be had for our members!

Beginners Course

We are running one more beginners course before September, running through all 4 sessions of the weekends 23rd to 26th June - if you or anyone you know would like to get a good introduction to this fantastic sport then please get in contact with us.

Changes to Sunday Shooting Times

As from this Sunday the 11th of June our times will be changing back to our original opening time of 9.30am for a 10am start (shooting till around 12pm).

We will use these times throughout the summer and then take your feedback as to whether you prefer the morning or afternoon times for Sunday shooting.

Friday, Saturday and Monday times remain unchanged.

First End of Month Shoot of the year!

Yes! Spring is here and the cakes are back for the first end of the month shoot of the season. We're breaking ourselves in nice and gently with some Warwicks (that's four dozen arrows at short and longer distances, with the big faces back on the bosses.) It should be a good introduction to shooting rounds for our recent completing beginners and a way to warm up the bows for reclassifying and submitting scores.

Hope to see a good turn out on the line tomorrow - the weather promises to be dry, we think.

Beginners Course Beginning!

Now that spring is very nearly here Aardwolf have organised the first Beginners Course of the year! There's still time to get involved if you want to learn about archery and get the basic skills and knowledge to start a very fun sport.
