Take a beginners archery course with aardwolf

Learning with Aardwolf

Our courses

We usually aim to run 2 – 3 beginners courses during the year, generally between April and October when the weather is reasonable! These will be on four consequtive weekends on a Saturday or Sunday and you would need to attend for all four 2-hour sessions.

Our next course will be running through 4 Saturdays in May 2023 – 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th May. This course is currently full but you can still go on the waiting list to be first in line for the next course. We hope to run the next course in around June/July.

equipment

All equipment including bow, arrows and protective items will be provided during the course.

Equipment can continue to be borrowed for a time after completion of the beginners course if you decide to join the club until you are able to acquire your own.

Fees

The course costs £60 for four 2 hour lessons per person.

Topic List

a beginners course with us will teach you:

Introduction to archery and how to set up and take down a basic recurve bow.

Shooting safely at a distance of up to 20 yards, line etiquette and safety signals.

Sighted and barebow shooting both covered during this course.

Scoring – imperial and metric. Demonstrations of different bow types, equipment advice. Setting up the field.

Things to know

Archery is an outdoor activity so please wear suitable clothing and always wear covered footwear (no flipflops please!)

Children above the age of 8 can take a beginners archery course but a parent/guardian must also attend. If your child is keen to take up archery, why not learn along with them!

If you are unable to attend a session due to health/life events getting in the way then a catch-up session can be arranged for you

Completing a course with us will mean you can join any Archery GB affiliated club, you are not obliged to join Aardwolf Archers.

If the weather is too horrible or unsafe to shoot in then the session will be rescheduled.

Beginners course group sizes are generally small so as you can get focused help from your coach.
